Podcasters
A brief bio about the main podcasters/authors that I listen to
Scott Sigler
The first podcast novel I listened to was one Scott’s and that then lead me to all the others that I have listened to but in my opinion Scott is the best one out there. Scott has podcast the following novels
Earthcore 2005 – ‘The worlds first podcast only novel’, now available in print.
Ancestor 2006 – Was made available in print on April 1st 2007 and reached number 7 on Amazon’s best seller charts
Infection 2006 – Will be available in print on April 1st 2008 under a name change ‘Infected’.
The Rookie 2007 – A departure from the horror but still science based, a football story set 800 years in the future.
Nocturnal 2007 – A new novel launches Halloween 2007.
And onto the future, Scott has promised sequels to several of his books and the last I checked the plans are as follows
Earthcore II: Mt. Fitzroy – Patrick O’Doyle heads south to Argentina to tackle the other known Rocktopi site.
Descendent: Sequel to Ancestor
Contagious: Sequel to Infected (or Infection as it used to be known)
Pandemic: Sequel to Contagious
The Starter: Sequel to The Rookie, I think Scott mentioned that there are four books in the Rookie universe.
As you can see Scott has an extremely busy schedule over the next few years, and as I understand it Scott has quit his day job and has started life as a full time author.
JC Hutchins
During Scott Sigler’s Infection podcast I was introduced to JC Hutchins (or Chris). Scott and JC launched a cross over contest where characters in each others podcast novel cropped up in the others novel and prizes were given to listeners than idetified them. This lead to my introducing into the world of 7th Son. JC created a mammoth novel that he had trouble getting to publishers due to the size so it was broken down into three books (Descent, Deceit and Destruction).
The trilogy deals with the lives of 7 clones and John Alpha and his plans. It also starts of with one of the greatest openings to a story ever.
Tee Morris
So in the vain of finding novels from Scott Sigler, at the start of 2007 Scott and JC played promos for Tee Morris’s ‘Billibub Baddings and the Case of the Singing Sword’. This launched on Valentines day and followed the Dwarf detective in 1930’s Chicago and his tracing down of a talisman from his realm. I loved the story and found out the Tee was the original podcast novelist with his book MOREVI. whilst I could have gone back and listened to it I decided to wait for MOREVI remastered which is due out at the end of November 2007.
Tee is a prolific podcaster (whom I had never heard of, but I listened to all the wrong things apparently) and I like his technique of podcasting novels. He podcasts the novel as he writes the sequel, so during podcasting MOREVI he was writing The Legacy of MOREVI, and whilst podcasting The Case of the Signing Sword he was writing The Case of The Pitcher’s Pendant, I think it is a fantastic way for an author to get back into the universe of the original tale – plus we get podcasted stories.
Tee’s books are available at Dragon Mooon press before they are podcasted.
Seth Harwood
Seth, like Scott Sigler is a San Francisco based author and he created the character Jack Palms. I was late to the party when Jack Palms 2 was launched in 2007 I found out about it by a promo on Scott or Tee’s show. I took the time to go back and listen to Jack Wakes Up – the first novel before I started the second book.
He has also podcasted his short stories about growing up in the Boston area in the 1980’s called ‘A Long Way From Disney’, the second batch of these stories are due to be podcast in November 2007 once This is Life is finished.
Jack Wakes Up makes it way to print on 16th March 2008.
Note this is a work in progress more coming soon including…
