Palm’s Sunday is here

Sunday, March 16 2008

Ok – I have been very quiet recently but today is Palm(s) Sunday. Make your way over to seth’s website at 18:00 GMT and get yourself your copy of Jack Wakes Up from Amazon.com to ensure not only that Seth gets worldwide recognition but a continuing stream of FREE audio drama.

I shouldn’t need to tell you how great Jack Wakes Up is but it is a great crime drama and as an added bonus ship it to Seth’s P.O. Box and he will sign it…

Seth Harwood: ALWFD – Tuesday

Wednesday, December 12 2007

And the last in my catch up posts for tonight, last week a new short story from Seth Harwood’s A long Way From Disney collection dropped called Tuesday.

I left this one to last to write tonight because I felt that this was a story that needed telling, the events of that particular Tuesday have been lost and forgotten and twisted by the US administration (and I guess ours as well).  The story moved me, I remember that day I was working in London and the news came down at around 14:00, my main memory of the day was refreshing BBC news all afternoon.  I guess in the last six years I had forgotten all about the day and the immediate aftermath, this story reminds us that politics aside it huge event.

So yes, another great short from Seth, I was really digging these stories but Tuesday just took me away from the Adam Berkman universe and made me think back to my experiences -  if you are not a short story fan but a fan of Seth’s give this story a listen, you won’t be sorry.

Anyway a couple of housekeeping notes, Seth still wants iTunes reviews, there is now a Seth Harwood Forum (see Seth’s site for details) and if you are in the San Fran area there is another Sigler/Harwood pub crawl on Friday

Seth Harwood: ALWFD – The True Story

Saturday, December 1 2007

I am still behind, work is now sorted but I was still working crap hours yesterday but got to listen to both Seth Harwood’s preview of Steve Saylor’s Black Shadow which sounds great, and last night I caught the new A Long Way From Disney story ‘The True Story’.  I also see that I did not blog last week on Pamplona, I don’t know why, I really enjoyed that story, not the story I expected from my comments a fortnight ago.

Anyway this weeks tale, The True Story again harks back to one of my favourite story from the first season when Adam stands upto Vaughan.  It is a great look back at that story

Nothing really to add, but next week I should be back to normal, and Seth would like iTunes reviews, I have added mine, have you added yours?

Seth Harwood: ALWFD – Escape from New York

Tuesday, November 13 2007

Also arriving over the weekend was a new Seth Harwood short story from his A Long Way From Disney (ALWFD) series, and I caught it over lunch yesterday.

In the first season of these stories (can I call it a season I couldn’t think of a better way to describe it) we followed Adam Berkman growing up in Boston.  In this story we meet Adam again with a new girlfriend staying with his Step Brother in New York and the trip back to Boston.

Next week we go back in time a bit to Adam’s visit to Spain which if memory serves me right was hinted at when he met the old guy in “One of Her Good Nights”

Jack Palms 2: This is Life 20

Monday, October 22 2007

I caught the final episode of Seth Harwood’s Jack Palms 2 on the way to work this morning and it lived up to my expectations.

It was a bitter sweet episode, the sweet in that we answered a lot of questions and finished the story off nicely, the bitter in that we have no more Jack Palms for six months or so. Anyway it was nicely done, some of my suspicions confirmed and others were proved wrong, and we are nicely set up for Jack Palms 3 next year (hopefully).

So what next for Seth Harwood, October 22nd at 21:00 BST (I think it is 16:00 Eastern time) there is a live QandA with the big O from Techno Fodder, and then moving on into the winter we have some more stories from A Long Way From Disney, which are short stories about growing up in the 1980’s in the Boston area through the eyes of Adam, with his divorced parents and crazy Mum.

Plus don’t forget, and how could you, that Palms Sunday 2008 (16th March) is the release date of Jack Wakes Up in print.

Jack Palms 2: This is Life 19

Monday, October 15 2007

It has been a while since I wrote one of these and as mentioned below it will be a slightly different style…

Anyway caught the penultimate Jack Palms 2 episode from Seth Harwood on the way to work this morning, and as you would expect from the penultimate episode it is a cracking listen, covering the fight in the garage…

Episode Link

Next Monday morning seems a long way away and I can’t wait for all to be revealed, I have my suspicions but am not sure where he will go…

I haven’t commented on Seth for a while and as mentioned on my last Seth post Jack Wakes Up has found a publisher (Breakneck Books) and will be available to buy on Palms Sunday 2008 (to save you finding a diary that is 16th March next year). Again this is a huge achievement and should go towards showing publishers that this way of releasing books work, I can but encourage you to buy it on the day from Amazon.com to propel it up the charts and let the industry take more notice of podcast novels.

In other Seth Harwood news, he cropped up on Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff’s Word Sushi video cast talking about the importance of dialogue and his three rules, interesting stuff

Jack Palms 2: This is Life 13

Tuesday, August 28 2007

It was a Bank Holiday yesterday so this morning’s drive to work was Seth Harwood’s Jack Palms 2 episode 14.

We pick up the story with Jack and Jane Gannon on the balcony and Jack is asking about the girls. It seems that Akeyovik is bring in young girls and then selling them to the city’s high rollers on an exclusive deal. So the girl that was killed in O’Malley’s car was O’Malley’s girl and that was how he knew that he was out and was ready to come in. Akeyovik now is not only into selling the girls but protecting his list of clients, some of San Francisco’s big names, and that is his main business. Now the FBI suspect that Akeyovik is using the privacy and the fact that the civil leaders are involved to get things that money can not buy.

Gannon gets a call and they have found another dead girl. Jack and Jane Gannon head over to the crime scene they chat about who’s girl was the last victim, Jack is worried that it is Mills Hopkins but Jane reassures him that Hopkins was a damn good cop and not involved.

The current dead girl is left on the street with no one seeing the body dumped, however Jane recognises the girl, on a past mission she was protecting the Mayor’s residence and the Mayor told her it was his daughter…

Another great episode and good news for Seth, Jack Wakes Up has found a publisher – or rather through Seth and his agents hard work Jack Wakes Up will be available to buy in March next year.

In other news it is Dragon*Con next week so there will be no episode (which is quite good as I am on holiday anyway so not blogging or listening to podcasts)

Jack Palms 2: This is Life 12

Monday, August 20 2007

Listened to Seth Harwood’s Jack Palms 2 on the way to work this morning.

We pick up the action again in the hospital room where Shaw is threatening to break Free’s fingers and Free comes up with a name, just O’Malleys partner. Shaw is not happy so he breaks Free little finger, as Jack intervenes again, Freeman gives up another name – Franklin Clarence is tied up tight with Akeyovik. Clarence is revealed to be the chief of the San Francisco police.

Shaw, Gannon and Jack retreat to the canteen and Gannon tells Shaw to head to Walnut Creek and arrange a raid on Prescott Court, careful not to include SFPD and alerting Clarence while Gannon takes Jack to a FBI safe house. On arriving at the sage house Jack is weighing up the options, run and hide from Akeyovik or go to the safe house, he chooses to trust Gannon. As they enter the safe house it is revealed that it is Gannon’s own home and that she is married to another FBI agent on the same case.

The penthouse apartment is expensive and filled with expensive furniture and as we meet Jane’s husband Tom he is cut off from explaining about the perks that comes with their status. Jane reveals that O’Malley’s killer is not what this is all about, we presume it is about taking down Akeyovik. Jane then receives a call, someone has tried to kill Freeman but Free has overpowered and killed his would be assassin. Jack states that the leak could only have come from the FBI.

The episode closes with Jack asking Jane about the murdered girls and what this is really about…

Episode Link

Another great episode from Seth, I am really not sure if I trust the Gannon’s but my radar has been well off target before, I guess they are going to be crucial to the plot and helping Jack out of his current problems. Anyway – give Jack Palms a listen and if you like it send Seth some love at sethharwood.com

Jack Palm 2: This is Life 11

Monday, August 13 2007

Listened to Seth Harwood’s Jack Palms 2: This is Life over lunch.

The story continues with Jack getting his hair cut and it is confirmed that the blond is Jane Gannon the FBI agent that at the O’Malley crime scene. It seems that O’Malley was in deep trouble with Akeyovik (no idea on the spelling but the Russian Mob boss), and the girl was left in his bed as notice that he was going to be killed. Gannon and Shaw leave the station and head off for a drive and some privacy.

The chatter clears up and confirms everything that has been going on so far, and Jack is forced to work with Shaw and Gannon as he is convinced his life is in serious danger on the street. Mills Hopkin’s case is going to be solved in three days and it looks like it could be pinned on Jack. The only potential lead they have on Akeyovik is Freeman Jones. A quick call around the hospital locates him and they head over.

Gannon and Shaw interrogate Free and when things are not going well Shaw pulls out his Leatherman pliers and moves to start breaking fingers on his good hand…

Another nail biter, loving the story and suspense, hopefully Free will come through good, I like the big Samoan and would like to see him on Jack’s side

Jack Palms 2: This is Life 10

Monday, August 6 2007

Caught Seth Harwood’s Jack Palm 2 on the way to work this morning.

Jack heads over to Joe Buddha’s to escape and get away from the current events. He fills Joe in with everything that has been going on since he arrived back in San Francisco. Joe encourages Jack to turn himself in until Jack reveals that Mills Hopkins gave Jack a business card with a contact on it – Office Alvin Shaw from Walnut Creek.

Jack calls the number and gets put in contact with a cop at the Shaw police station. Jack enters the station and meets Shaw. They head down to the barbers in the station and it is revealed that the barber is deaf so they can speak freely. Leaving Jack with half a hair cut he introduces Jack to “a friend”. Although it is not revealed who it is we are told that it is blond lady…

Episode Link

Great episode, we are left to assume that it is the blonde FBI agent that we have meet around before. We meet Joe Buddha again, I know he is Jack’s friend but I still don’t trust him, but I got Freeman wrong – hell I thought it was going to be Free that Shaw got.
