Over the weekend the seventh episode (I can’t believe we are 7 episodes in already) of Scott Sigler’s new podcast novel Nocturnal.

This story is great, I have no idea what or who Brian really is but can’t wait until Scott’s twisted mind reveals all :-0

Over the weekend the sixth episode of Scott Sigler’s fantastic novel Nocturnal dropped and I caught it on the way to work yesterday – I know I am still way behind on my blogging hopefully life will be getting back to normal this week.
Anyway, in this episode we find out a lot more about the symbols (although I am at a loss as to who is removing them from the database) and find an eye witness to the latest attack.

This story just has me gripped, I can not wait until next week and beyond it is great storytelling and the production of the cast is just second to none. Thanks Scott

Last night the 5th episode of Scott Sigler’s novel Nocturnal dropped and I listened to it on the way in this morning.
Another great episode that leaves you wanting more, although there was over 40 minutes of story in this one. The story moves back to Rex and then covers all the main characters so far.

Scott has updated his Google map with the Nocturnal locations, and I do encourage you to have a look, it is a fantastic idea and allows you to see the key locations mentioned on the story.
In the closing notes Scott clears up some listeners Infection/Infested/Infected queries and promises us 50 pages of new material and 50 pages rewritten so come 1st April 2008 older Junkies will have around a third of a book of new material. I know I would have bought it anyway (assuming Amazon don’t screw with us again) but this does give an extra reason for anyone wavering.

Over the weekend (and early I think it arrived on Saturday) was the latest episode of Scott Sigler’s Nocturnal, and I listened to it this morning on the way to work, along with his call in episode that dropped on Friday.
We meet new characters, and I think the biggest hint yet is dropped that it is not Brian doing this but time will tell.

I am still really enjoying this story, although I did enjoy The Rookie this is back to the horror best from Scott. It is Thanksgiving this week in the US so I don’t know what podcasts I will be getting this week- Scott’s promise of two episodes this week literally crashed with a coffee falling problem – Scott is fine so no worries there…

Yesterday evening the third episode of Scott Sigler’s Nocturnal arrived and I caught it on the way to work this morning.
The story moves on with Brian attending a murder scene that is disturbingly familiar. In this episode we are left to wonder about Brian and I guess we assume that Rex has a bigger role in this story than just a victim?
This really is a gripping story, as is often the case my guesses on where the story is going was completely wrong and I didn’t expect what was revealed in this episode, although in hindsight it is more fool me.

Seriously this is a great start to a Scott Sigler story, straight into violence and gore, although now I have no idea if the main character is a good one or a bad, it could go the way of ‘Darkly Dreaming Dexter’ (which the TV show Dexter loosely based on and missing the best part of the book but there you go) which kept the suspense and the killers identity secret to the end.

The second episode of Scott Sigler’s Nocturnal dropped over night and I caught it on my drive to work this morning.
The story moves on with the dreams getting more violent and we met some of the vanished and Rex’s foster Mum (and why US healthcare sucks but that is a different story)

Another episode of Scott’s new story and a long wait for the next episode, Scott spoilt us with a good 50 minutes of story on Thursday but we are back to the usual 25 to 30 minutes with this one and as always I want more! Oh well. As Scott mentioned in the comments on the previous post we are on a Sunday release schedule (or Monday morning for those of us in the UK.
Although not mentioned in the show notes Scott has updated the map with the Hospital and Bryan’s dream locations, an excellent addition to the story. I really enjoyed the GFL website for the Rookie and this map (with street view) is awesome.

And so it is here as promised at 05:00 this morning Scott Sigler’s new novel Nocturnal appeared in iTunes, so I caught it this morning on the way to work.
Scott is trying something new this time, as the story is to take place in San Francisco he is plotting some of the locations used on a google map and as the story progresses more locations will be added which is pretty cool. Scott is also asking for feedback so as the story progresses we have a chance to shape it and add clarifications. And finally he has asked for comments on his use of sound effects, those that have listened to a Scott Sigler novel know (and love) his character voices, and I must I find the sound effects he uses do not distract from the story just punctuate the action.
Okay so onto the story, as I was listening I was thinking is this really a Scott Sigler story, straight into actiom, horror and suspense, I know Scott says to give it four episodes (although I haven’t heard it for Nocturnal) but listen to this and I swear you will be hooked waiting for more.

The best news is that Episode 2 will drop on Sunday, I am not sure on the release schedule after that, I did wonder if the Sunday releases would change to a midweek one now Scott is a full time author but I guess time will tell.
Just two more things, nice to see a return of the chicken scissors (however short lived) and a nice nod to Seth Harwood and Jack Palms at the end. Thanks Scott and here is to Sunday

I was just looking through the posts imported and setting tags and categories and the such and I realised that I have not mentioned Nocturnal on here.
Scott Sigler has a new novel out called Nocturnal, the first episode is dropping at Midnight (Eastern time so 6:00 over here) on Halloween. I can’t wait, and there is more, Scott wants to kill you, if you following the link on the right of this blog to ScottSigle.com and register Scott may attach your name to a corpse. Anyway if you would rather listen to this than read here is the link to the Nocturnal Promo.
I can’t wait, I love short stories and this batch of bloddcasts have been excellent, my favourite being “The Great Snipe Hunt”, but the whole pod novel is a fantastic concept, the wait between episodes drives me mad but makes you appreciate the story more. One week to go!

A pleasant surprise yesterday evening a new Scott Sigler short story was waiting for me in iTunes, and it is a two 0r three parter.
The story is set in the Rookie universe a few hundred years before the Rookie (2568). The story focuses on Marcus leading a team into the aftermath of a nuclear attack on a planet. We get to met the Ki, Sklorno and Quyth warriors again ahead of “The Starter” which is nice. Anyway, onto the story the ship crashes and Marcus and his team are caught in a crossfire and come up against some serious next generation kit…

Scott is also at Dragon*Con at the weekend so I don’t expect an episode at the weekend, but as mentioned I am away next week so I won’t be commenting until a week Monday anyway.
Nocturnal is now looking like an October release date and there is lots of chatter and calls at the end of this episode, some updates from Scott on Earthcore II Mt Fitzroy, Ancestor II Descendent and things are not looking good, Scott didn’t/couldn’t go into too much detailbut I get the impression someone (Dragon Moon ?) think they own the rights to the sequels and Scott doesn’t agree. A damn shame, I was really looking forward to Mt Fitzroy…

Caught Scott Sigler’s new short story Kissyman on the way to work.
I enjoyed this one although I preferred his other short stories more, no science but plenty of gore in this tale. As I have been doing for Scott’s short stories I will not go into the story at all so as not to spoil them…
Episode Link
Scott said he will be back next week and by my reckoning we must three weeks from the start of Nocturnal, can’t wait. Whilst I enjoy short stories, there is something special about the weekly serial novel that I can not get enough of (if you hadn’t already guessed)
