A note about today

Thursday, July 26 2007

I am working from home today which means obviously that I am not driving to work.

Larry’s podcast hasn’t appeared (he took the wrong one into work to upload!). I have Mur Lafferty and Phil Rossi lined up in iTunes ready to go so they will be commented on tomorrow.

So you thought there would be no blog today? Well as is the usual on a Tuesday no novels, but there is a fortnightly Red Sox podcast by Corn, Gordon and Flanagan arrived this morning.

As this is the first show since I started this blog I will mention a bit about this show. These three guys talk for 40 minutes to an hour on the Red Sox and I think is the best Red Sox podcast out there. Corn and Gordon have been Red Sox fans for years, Randy Flanagan is younger and is the butt of the jokes. The show usual format is a discussion on the previous fortnights events choosing two or three topics, then this season they seem to enjoy talking about A-Rod and the yankees :-) Anyhow a new feature is the 7th Innings stretch and the show closes with three quick strikes. Check out the show using th elinks on the right

Anyway this episode is a bit of a departure from the usual with a “all access” show that was unscripted. I enjoyed it, the episode started with Corn and Gordon moaning about Flanagan and a bit of Bonds talk, with an hour worth of Red Sox talk and a discussion on the Yankees. Give it a listen if you are a Red Sox fan…

Again, another Thursday no podiobooks so I will pass comment on two podcasts that I caught this morning.

Murphy’s Patriots Audio Blog was two Patriots fans post game show, but Scott has left and it the close season so shows are not as regular. But this morning as show appeared and it was Dugan and Buddy Love discussing the Patriots Hall of Fame. If you are a Pats fan give them a listen during the season, last year the show appeared within hours of the game and it was a great listen here in the UK on a Monday morning.

Also I have been receiving ITV’s podcast for Le Tour, now I catch the highlights on ITV4 every evening but this is just a refresher that I listen to as I drop Jack off, a 10 minute recap if you will

Again this morning nothing worth blogging appeared in iTunes.

I have fixed Ryan’s feed but I noticed that (along with Larry’s show) there is no episode link, I will keep them in the RSS feed but not sure how much use it is.

I also see that this afternoon Phil Rossi has loaded another episode of Crescent (I managed to spell it correctly first time this time) which I will catch tomorrow morning.

Just a quick note, finished Tee’s show last night on the way home. Had no podcasts of notes to blog on today so I will be quiet.

If memory serves me correctly Billi was my usual Wednesday listen and that has now finished.

Wicked Good Podcast #62

Monday, July 9 2007

Listened to Steve and Maureen on the way home. Probably won’t blog on them every week but I will give them a shout every now and again. They have the dubious pleasure of being the first podcast I left a voice message on, so there you go. It is a couple cast and they have just had a baby but it is a quirky look at the lives of these two (or now three I guess) New Englanders, or to give it the full tag line “Witty observations and wacky misadventures form the heart of New England”

This episode includes cooking tips and Bex’s photo trip. Give it a listen you won’t be disappointed

This mornings Podcasts

On the drive to drop off Jack I caught the baseball prospectus podcast. They have started a Rundown show, which is five things in five minutes. It is good and may take over for baseball today in my breakfast listening as it is current rather than 24 hours out of date

Also they had another cast which was an interview with Jayson Stark of ESPN.com – why he has to be introduced as that I don’t know, UK radio shows don’t every five minutes say this is X of BBC.co.uk but I digress. A top interview with Jayson (of etc…) about his book The Stark Truth looking at over and underrated players throughout baseball history, and the added bonus of how he upset Scott Boras. Episode Link

By the time I caught that interview, it lasted longer than the trip with Jack I kept listening and that meant I only had time for one more and listened to episode 9 of Crescent (sorry Larry) but see next post for the review of that

Okay so I get up in the morning, fire up the iBook and pick up a bunch of podcasts that have downloaded overnight.

Phil Rossi’s Crescent (which I struggle spelling) has a new episode, Larry from the Underground (a sports show from half of STU – more about that later) and NFL Rants and Raves (which I am getting fed up with, maybe it is just the offseason I don’t know) as well as the daily casts from ESPN and John Madden, although lurking in there is Baseball Prospectus which is nice.

As usual have breakfast to ESPN baseball today, and figure I will catch Crescent and Larry on the way to work.
