Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 23

Wednesday, October 31 2007

So it comes to an end, the final episode of Phil Rossi’s Crescent dropped overnight and I caught it over lunch today.

It was a great ending to a fantastic novel full of suspense and horror right to the end.

Phil has created a magnificent piece of work here, not just the story but the music and I can’t quite believe it is all over, if my iPod wasn’t quite so full at the moment (and with Nocturnal and Playing for Keeps starting this week) I would download all the episodes and start over, maybe in the new year.  Anyway, a huge thanks to Phil for all his hard work in this very successful podcast novel and wishing him every success in his future projects.

There is a Second Life event on the 10th with acoustic performance of the music and some new material, I commented below that it is at 21:00 EST I haven’t got the details to hand though so check Phil’s site for more details,

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 22

Friday, October 26 2007

The latest episode of Phil Rossi’s Crescent dropped on Wednesday night and I caught it this morning on the way to work (I worked at home yesterday).

And what an episode it was, as expected their was an explosive climax, parts that I didn’t see coming and a few more questions were answered, if you haven’t been listening to Crescent you are really missing out

I believe next week is the end of the story and it has been a fantastic ride, and thanks to Phil for the story and the music, there is a Second Life party on the 10th November at 21:00 EST (so 02:00 on Sunday morning over here) but before then lets look forward to next week…

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 21

Thursday, October 18 2007

We are down to the final three! Episode 25 of Phil Rossi’s Crescent dropped over night and I caught it on the way to work this morning.

The story is really heating up, after the last couple of weeks this one is really building to an explosive climax, my thanks goes out to Phil for this fantastic story.

I am really looking forward to finding out how this ends, but a big part of me is sad that the end is in sight, I am not sure what projects Phil has planned (maybe spending time with his new baby) but if they are half as good as Crescent it will be worth the wait

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 16

Thursday, August 30 2007

A new episode of Phil Rossi’s Crescent dropped this morning along with the great news that Jane has had a baby girl (and my spelling is rubbish but) called Bren Ashlin (sorry if I have mangled that) – so congratulations Phil.

The episode opens in Heathens with an unhappy Gerald meeting with Alvin and Jacob. Gerald gets away with a lie about what he told Nigel. They pass Gerald a Data Wafer with the co-ordinates of Geralds next salvage mission or as we know it Daros’s trap, but Gerald suspects it is a trap and decides to go anyway.

Next we catch up with Marisa and she is meeting with Captain Benedict and she finds out that she is benched, and then reinstated but has nothing to do with Nigel Swaren and is on deck duty. Marisa can not remember what she did to Mayor Kendall and has been under house arrest since the fight. After she leaves the Captain she bumps into Ina and there is a glimmer of recognition but neither of them can put their fingers on it.

Ina has been to the doctors to get medication for her father who has been sick for days. On arriving back at the apartment Donovan’s bed is empty and Ina cannot find him. A growl from above her is Donovan hanging on the ceiling, red flashes across her and a voice talks about the Key. Donovan falls and tells Ina everything is purple.

Next we are on Bean with Gerald, and Bean is not happy, then six raiders appear and lock their weapons onto Bean. A chase takes place as Gerald tries to find enough space for Bean to warp out of their. Then they come across a partially built structure floating as a call comes in from Nigel Swaren who demands they get out of there once Beans location is relayed back to him. Guns from the structure move round to take out the raiders… and then they target onto Bean as they are in a clear enough space to warp out of there…

Finally we are back on Crescent Station and in Nigel’s office as he loses the connection with Bean, and it becomes clear that Capt. Benedict is in the doorway. Gerald checks back in he has escapes. Nigel worries that Kendall knows about Galletia (again spelling not to sure), and orders that Gerald comes back quietly and calls him as soon as he is landed.

What can I say that I haven’t said already, this story is fantastic, does Kendall know about XX. As I have mentioned I am not around next week so there will be no updates on this for around a fortnight.

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 15

Thursday, August 23 2007

A new episode of Phil Rossi’s Crescent arrived this morning, and I listened to it on the way to work. After two long episodes this is a more manageable 25 minutes.

The story centres this week on Donovan Cortez. He grills Ina about the trip to Onra 3 and why she didn’t bring anything back. This is a guilt trip as he saw Ina hide the rock in her draw. Ina then tells Donovan that she is pregnant – it is not Gerald’s but her lab assistants from way back.

Donovan steals the Sangineite rock and hides it in his own drawers. Donovan experiences a dream where the Sangineite is carved into a beetle (or a scarab) and is used as a key. There is then violet light and Donovan gets his old surgical tools and carves the rock into the beetle…

Episode Link

There was no chatter this week, I guess that Jane has had her baby. A great episode it really does seem that things are coming to a head on Crescent Station

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 14 Act2

Thursday, August 16 2007

Listened to the second act of Phil Rossi’s Crescent on the way to work this morning.

The story starts of with Nigel collecting his thoughts heading to CoreSec HQ.

Next we visit Marisa as she enters her room to be greeted by Mayor Kendall and Taylor. Kendall integrates her about Nigel and Gerald s meeting, and Taylor roughs her up. The voices are telling Marisa to kill them and as Taylor pins her down ready for Kendall to take her and Marisa flips and attacks Taylor ripping his face and gouging out one of his eyes and throwing them out.

Back in Kendall’s office he is interrupted by a call from Walter Vegan reporting that a ship was approaching and it is Daros Stronghold the raider Kendall has been dealing with. Stronghold and Kendall meet, with the raider unhappy at the lack of guns. Kendall tells him about the CoreSec audit an his suspicions about Gerald. Daros tells Kendall to send Gerald out to the asteroid belt in 48 hours and he will take care of him.

Another fantastic episode, this story is building nicely, and although i am not too sure how many episodes are left I get the feeling we are reaching the beginning of the end…

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 14 Act1

Wednesday, August 15 2007

Caught the first act of part 14 of Phil Rossi’s Crescent over lunch today.

The story takes up with the Auditor Nigel Swaren going over historical feeds from the farm and he notices the heavy crates appearing now and again an despite political corruption not being part of his brief feels that it will be negligent not to investigate. Nigel meets up with Mayor Kendall and comments on the trappings in his office and it is just about confirmed that Kendall is on the take.

Next we join Ina as Bean arrives back on Crescent station and she wonders seemingly aimlessly around the station arriving at the vault and a voice tells her to hid the stone and the life boat until the time is right.

Finally we end up in Heathens as Nigel interviews a dog tired Gerald, where Gerald confirms that he is not running anything from the farm and believes that Kendall is tipping of raiders so that he can salvage them, he also remembers seeing an unmarked cargo ship getting a heavy crate from a Crescent Station ship. Nigel reveals that his mission is to decommission Crescent Station, the act closes with Gerald asking Nigel to help him up as he can not stand…

Episode Link

Again another fantastic episode, and I assume that act 2 is tomorrow (I can’t remember if Phil mentioned it). I quite like the two smaller 30 minute episodes rather than one larger one but there we go. The questions are what is happening with Ina and is Nigel really decommissioning Crescent station. I guess we find out next time…

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 13 Act 2

Thursday, August 9 2007

Caught act 2 of Phil Rossi’s Crescent on the way to work.

We pick up the story are Gerald and Ina are approaching Bean. Ina collapses and Gerald picks her up to carry her, as Ina awakes she can not remember the journey at all. On arriving back on Bean they realise that they are both cold and sit shivering in the heat from Bean. Ina wants to investigate the other sites but Gerald refuses as Ina has passed out, and the fact he is scared. They leave Onra 3 and fly back to Crescent Station. On the trip back Ina collapses again and mumbles random nonsense in a strange voice however Gerald makes out some words…

Next we catch up with Donovan Cortez as he explores the life boat, and he is going down the narrow passage that scared Gerald so much when he was in the lifeboat. Donovan arrived at the purple light and the dead bodies that Gerald found whilst trying to ejected the reactor core to release the life boat. Donovan is enchanted by the purple light and lays down in the chamber and listens to the voice of the dead, is crushed and screams…

We move on to Mayor Kendall in bed with a prostitute but he his not aroused and is thinking about Marisa and how she didn’t delete the black mist on the video camera. He arranges a meeting with Merhella (the crone again spelling is probably wrong). It seems that fifteen years ago Merhella provided a solution to the mist and is looking for a new solution. However all deals seem to be off the violet is on the station and the crone is worried that the Red is on the way and she has no solution.

We go back to Bean where Ina seduces Gerald and he is enveloped in the red.

Episode Link

So we are getting somewhere, with Gerald bring the violet and the crimson to Crescent station is waking up the darkness that exists on Crescent Station, hang on it should be a good ride…

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 13 Act 1

Wednesday, August 8 2007

Caught Phil Rossi on the way home, I was pleasantly surprised to see this arrive this morning, and on listening found that Phil has split episode 13 into two parts, the second part coming tomorrow.

Anyway onto the episode, Gerald is nervous about the geological station Murhate on finding the stone circle and a metal ring with the misshapen corpse hanging there, whilst Ina is engrossed looking around the rocks and metal for something. She finds a crimson pebble that is Sangineite (again no idea on the spelling) a very rare mineral, very solid impossible to drill through. Gerald is convinced that he can hear a rustling sound and urges Ina that they have to leave. As they leave the station the door clangs shut behind them and the storm is approaching.

We cut back to Crescent Station and catch up with Alvin and Jacob on the farm removing the guns and disassembling the gun processing machines before Nigel and CoreSec find them. The security camera is obscured with boot polish. It is also revealed that Jacob is suffering from bad dreams and voices at night.

Finally we go to Marisa who has failed to convince Nigel that Mayor Kendall can be brought down for blackmailing her. There are hints at Nigel’s true mission but nothing is revealed (although it is not to investigate Kendall) and he asks Marisa to arrange a meeting with Gerald. Nigel scans through the video feeds and notices the bootpolished one on the farm loading docks. His suspicions are raised when he flicks through again and the lens is clear, and why are there people in the loading dock in the middle of Crescents night?

Episode Link

Another great episode, and the best thing is that part 2 comes tomorrow…

Crescent – Part 12

Thursday, August 2 2007

Another episode of Phil Rossi’s Crescent dropped last night and listened to part 12 this morning on the way to work.

We pick up the story with Gerald and Marisa still in the auditorium. After swapping tales Marisa convinces Gerald that he should take Donovan to Onra 3 as she is going to report the Gerald is running jobs for Cortez and use that to get Nigel to investigate Mayor Kendall to bring him down. Marisa also wants to see if Gerald can find out what is out there and if it is causing the strange events on Crescent Station.

Gerald approaches Cortez and tells him if he wants to investigate Onra 3 then they have to leave now as he will soon be grounded by CoreSec (not sure on the spelling of this either). Gerald and Ina leave to investigate and land Bean on Onra 3. After hiking to the first waypoint they find the weathered remains of an outpost. On arriving at the second waypoint a single story building with a single door. Written on the door is the word in faded block letters “MURHATE” pronounced “mur-haty” and scares Gerald, why though is not revealed.

As Gerald and Ina try to spin the wheel to open the door it refuses to budge, then however the wheel spins by itself. Once in the building Gerald is greeted with a grusome murder (or that is what we are left with)…

Episode Link

Seriously, Phil Rossi has created one enthralling and scary story. On a happier note – and I had forgotten that Jen was pregnant – there hasn’t been a filling the page for a long time :-( – it seems that Phil’s first child is almost here that is why there was no chatter last week. But Phil assures us that he has plenty of episodes in the bag so Crescent does not disappear…
