Overnight the 5th episode of Mur Lafferty’s Playing for Keeps dropped and I caught it on my way to work this morning.
I love this, it is just what you need from a superhero story, where the heros are the villans, I am really looking forward to finding out where this story goes.

So on Wednesday I caught chapters 36, 37 and 38 of the awesome JC Hutchins, 7th Son. Man what a great story, I feel that the story is over but there is still more.
It seems that I was way of the mark with my guesses last week (which I am relieved about) and it was honourable reasons that took me by surprise, maybe it was the mood I was in but i didn’t see the twist coming.

As I said this trilogy is approaching the end, and JC should be applauded for this and the book deal he has gained, I look forward to owning Book.

What a manic week, we had a software release at work on Tuesday and it didn’t go well to say the least. Where it affects this blog is that I haven’t had a lunch break for three days, and as I have been getting into work early and leaving late my commute is down to 30 minutes each way (as opposed to an hour each way at rush hour).
It is really disappointing as there is some great stuff sitting on my iPod, Tee Morris MOREVI remastered has cropped up in JC Hutchins feed (a 20 minutes preview) but it has also arrived in the Billi feed and of course the MOREVI feed, I am hoping that I can catch it tomorrow.
Also sitting in Seth Harwood’s feed is a 10 minute Black Shadow pre release prologue (Steve Saylor’s debut podcast novel which launches on the 1st). I will hopefully be able to catch that tomorrow as well.
Anyway onto what I have caught this week…

Last night the 5th episode of Scott Sigler’s novel Nocturnal dropped and I listened to it on the way in this morning.
Another great episode that leaves you wanting more, although there was over 40 minutes of story in this one. The story moves back to Rex and then covers all the main characters so far.
Episode Link
Scott has updated his Google map with the Nocturnal locations, and I do encourage you to have a look, it is a fantastic idea and allows you to see the key locations mentioned on the story.
In the closing notes Scott clears up some listeners Infection/Infested/Infected queries and promises us 50 pages of new material and 50 pages rewritten so come 1st April 2008 older Junkies will have around a third of a book of new material. I know I would have bought it anyway (assuming Amazon don’t screw with us again) but this does give an extra reason for anyone wavering.

Over the weekend the final part of Mike Bennett’s Hair and Skin, from his Hall of Mirrors short story collection dropped, and I caught it on the way to work yesterday morning (I know I am late but there we go).
This long episode (around 40 minutes) finished of the beard transplant story excellently and I think it comes a strong second to “The Grave”.

I am not too sure what is next, my memory is letting me down, I think Mike said that there are some more short stories coming, I sure hope so

Overnight the fourth episode of Mur Lafferty’s Playing for Keeps arrived and I listened to it this morning on the drive to work.
Another great episode in which things go further downhill for our hero, Keepise. I am going to go back next week to listen to the first three episodes again to refresh my memory but I do encourage you to go out and give this fantastic story a try

Last Thursday a new Escape Pod dropped, and due to not working Friday as it was Jack’s first birthday I only got round to listening to it this morning. Epsiode 132 was ‘Sparks in a Cold War’ by Kristine Kathryn Rusch and read by who else but Stephen Eley. I have just noticed as I have scrolled down my blog that she wrote the first Escape Pod I blogged on ‘Results’, this is a different story from that.
Ok, onto the story, it is a hunting party gone bad on a hostile world. It had me gripped and as good Sci Fi should be it is a great parody/expansion on the situation the US (and the UK) are in at the moment.

Another great story, and I guess everyone can’t agree on everything else the world would be a pretty boring place but in the feedback at the end there were some people that did not like the last Union Dues story

Last night episodes 34 and 35 of the fantastic JC Hutchins 7th Son Trilogy dropped and I caught it this morning.
I am really looking forward to the conclusion of this story, the latest story twist has got me head scratching, running through possibilities all morning and I will hint at my thoughts <<that there is still a Devlin out there holding someone hostage, is the best I can come up with although I can see a bunch of holes in that guess>>
Episode Link
Just three episodes now remain in the trilogy, I have also heard this week that 7th Son Book 1 ‘Deceit’ has been picked up by St Martins Press (also the home of the Code Phantom project I believe), so congratulations there and I think we will get a copy in our hands in early 2009…

Over the weekend (and early I think it arrived on Saturday) was the latest episode of Scott Sigler’s Nocturnal, and I listened to it this morning on the way to work, along with his call in episode that dropped on Friday.
We meet new characters, and I think the biggest hint yet is dropped that it is not Brian doing this but time will tell.
Episode Link
I am still really enjoying this story, although I did enjoy The Rookie this is back to the horror best from Scott. It is Thanksgiving this week in the US so I don’t know what podcasts I will be getting this week- Scott’s promise of two episodes this week literally crashed with a coffee falling problem – Scott is fine so no worries there…

The third episode of Mur Lafferty’s Playing for Keeps dropped overnight and I caught it on the way to work this morning.
It is another great couple of chapters, where we get a glance into the history of the Playing for Keeps universe and learn more about the villains of the story.
Episode Link
This is a fantastic story, well told and I am really enjoying the experience, hopefully the pdf wil be available tonight so we can see the artwork and listen to the Easter egg.
