Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 23

Wednesday, October 31 2007

So it comes to an end, the final episode of Phil Rossi’s Crescent dropped overnight and I caught it over lunch today.

It was a great ending to a fantastic novel full of suspense and horror right to the end.

Phil has created a magnificent piece of work here, not just the story but the music and I can’t quite believe it is all over, if my iPod wasn’t quite so full at the moment (and with Nocturnal and Playing for Keeps starting this week) I would download all the episodes and start over, maybe in the new year.  Anyway, a huge thanks to Phil for all his hard work in this very successful podcast novel and wishing him every success in his future projects.

There is a Second Life event on the 10th with acoustic performance of the music and some new material, I commented below that it is at 21:00 EST I haven’t got the details to hand though so check Phil’s site for more details,

Pseudopod Review: Halloween

Wednesday, October 31 2007

Another pleasant surprise appeared in the Pseudopod feed  appeared overnight, Alasdair Stuart is reviewing classic horror movies and started with (appropriatly enough) with John Carpenter’s Halloween.  In the Pseudopod feed is a non spoiler five minute review and there is a longer ‘mini directors commentary’ available which I haven’t listened to.

I really like Alasdair (he read this weeks Pseudopod 061 – ‘The Keeper’ which I didn’t comment on) and I had forgotten how great a film Halloween was, give the review a listen to refresh your memories this Halloween

JC Hutchins: 7th Son Book 3 Episode 15

Wednesday, October 31 2007

A new chapter (29) of JC Hutchins 7th Son trilogy dropped over night and I caught it on the way to work this morning.

This chapter coughed up a character I had forgotten about and will he save the day?

JC has created a fantastic story here, and each week we inch ever closer to the finale, which I both look forward to and hate the idea that this story will end…

EP Bonus: Playing for Keeps

Tuesday, October 30 2007

Pleasantly surprised to see an Escape Pod bonus episode tonight, even happier when I realised it was the first chapter of Mur Lafferty’s new superhero book Playing for Keeps.

Mur’s new book launches on 1st November and a link is now available on the right for her site for this book.

Phil Rossi: Crescent Part 22

Friday, October 26 2007

The latest episode of Phil Rossi’s Crescent dropped on Wednesday night and I caught it this morning on the way to work (I worked at home yesterday).

And what an episode it was, as expected their was an explosive climax, parts that I didn’t see coming and a few more questions were answered, if you haven’t been listening to Crescent you are really missing out

I believe next week is the end of the story and it has been a fantastic ride, and thanks to Phil for the story and the music, there is a Second Life party on the 10th November at 21:00 EST (so 02:00 on Sunday morning over here) but before then lets look forward to next week…

JC Hutchins: 7th Son Book 3 Episode 14

Wednesday, October 24 2007

The next instalment of JC Hutchins 7th Son trilogy dropped over night and I caught it on the way to work this morning.

After the revelations of the past two episodes we are back to action and things are not looking good.

This story is just getting better, the last couple of episodes tied everything up together and now we are moving to the climax, as there is no chatter I do not know how much longer there is to go but I am loving the story and it will be interesting to find out more about JC’s ‘Code Phantom’ project which if memory serves me right was due to be finished in October…

Tee Morris: An Update

Wednesday, October 24 2007

I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see a five minute update from Tee Morris on my iPod.

MOREVI remastered has been postponed due to technical difficulties, I didn’t realise it was due to start next week, but it has moved to the 29th November, which is great with Crescent and Jack Wakes Up finishing it will be good to have a new story.

Scott Sigler: Nocturnal

Tuesday, October 23 2007

I was just looking through the posts imported and setting tags and categories and the such and I realised that I have not mentioned Nocturnal on here.

Scott Sigler has a new novel out called Nocturnal, the first episode is dropping at Midnight (Eastern time so 6:00 over here) on Halloween. I can’t wait, and there is more, Scott wants to kill you, if you following the link on the right of this blog to ScottSigle.com and register Scott may attach your name to a corpse. Anyway if you would rather listen to this than read here is the link to the Nocturnal Promo.

I can’t wait, I love short stories and this batch of bloddcasts have been excellent, my favourite being “The Great Snipe Hunt”, but the whole pod novel is a fantastic concept, the wait between episodes drives me mad but makes you appreciate the story more. One week to go!

Mike Bennett: Hall Of Mirrors – Hair and Skin (part 1)

Tuesday, October 23 2007

The lastest Hall of Mirrors dropped on Friday and I caught it on the way to work this morning.

As this is my first post about Mike Bennett I will go into a bit of background here. Mike is an English author currently living in Dublin, his first podcast novel was “One Among the Sleepless”, and whilst it wasn’t my usual thing I enjoyed Mike’s humour and intros. Once that project finished he started Bonus Track which was random thoughts and his poetry. Then that leads us to Hall Of Mirrors a collection of short stories that Hair and Skin is the fourth, my favourite has been “The Grave”.

Okay, onto this tale, Hair and Skin and Mike promises us more horror in this one. We move into the world of Charles and his hair loss issues and his attempts to push the boundaries of medical science to cure his problem.

I will reserve judgement about this story until it finishes but Mike does have a fantastic range of voices and you can just picture Charles

Jack Palms 2: This is Life 20

Monday, October 22 2007

I caught the final episode of Seth Harwood’s Jack Palms 2 on the way to work this morning and it lived up to my expectations.

It was a bitter sweet episode, the sweet in that we answered a lot of questions and finished the story off nicely, the bitter in that we have no more Jack Palms for six months or so. Anyway it was nicely done, some of my suspicions confirmed and others were proved wrong, and we are nicely set up for Jack Palms 3 next year (hopefully).

So what next for Seth Harwood, October 22nd at 21:00 BST (I think it is 16:00 Eastern time) there is a live QandA with the big O from Techno Fodder, and then moving on into the winter we have some more stories from A Long Way From Disney, which are short stories about growing up in the 1980’s in the Boston area through the eyes of Adam, with his divorced parents and crazy Mum.

Plus don’t forget, and how could you, that Palms Sunday 2008 (16th March) is the release date of Jack Wakes Up in print.
