There was a host of podcasts waiting for me this morning so I started the drive to work with Scott Sigler’s final part of the Great Snipe Hunt.
Just a brief recap, the Professor sets his usual assignment to design a way to detect Snipes, creatures which should theoretically exist to be the Alpha animal amongst urban rubbish.
Dawn, Carlos, Drew and Chi set about this with thermo-imaging cameras and discover the Snipes and as we join the action only Drew and Carlos remain after they found the Snipes and the Snipes attacked.
Dawn escapes as they killed Carlos and headed up to the Professor’s at the campus. The Doctor confessed it was just a wacky theory he didn’t think they exists but as Dawn explains they are Meercat like the theory fits. He sends Dawn off away to the country side to be safe. The story closes with the Snipes blowing up Drew’s VW and a movement in the Doctors office…
Another great short story from Scott, we are promised another short one next week and have a provisional release date of Nocturnal (1st September). We find out more about the life of an author rewriting Infection/Infested which is interesting. It will be curious to find the changes when the book is released April 1st 2008.

I think you’re going to love the changes. I know I do. INFESTED has much more efficient science, with help from my online science mentor Xenophanes. The plot is tighter, and it sets up the sequel in a much stronger way.

I am looking forward to it.
Infested was in my opinion Scott’s best book and am looking forward to the sequel (Contagious) as well as owning Infested in print.
