Jack Palms 2: This is Life 09

Monday, July 30 2007

Again, listened to Seth Harwood over lunch and he tells an awesome story.

The episode opens up with the confrontation in the hotel room between Jack and Freeman. We learn that the whole conspiracy is larger than we thought with the FBI involved.

There is an epic struggle between Jack and Freeman, with Jack finally winning and fleeing the hotel. In the car park Jack spies a blond business lady, possibly the lady referred to in episode 6.

The episode closes with Jack leaving in his beloved car giving the Russians the bird…

Not much to say here, not too clear on where the story goes now, everyone is pissed at Jack, he seems to have the FBI on his case now, he has lost his bodyguard and his hideaway. I guess all will be revealed in the coming weeks. I guess I can now call myself a Palms Daddy now and I will enter the intro competition…

Scott Sigler: Red Man

Monday, July 30 2007

Episode 8 of Scott Sigler’s Bloodcast dropped this morning and it was the short story Red Man.

Again, as it is a short story I will not comment too much on the story so as to spoil it, but it is a ripper, give it a listen and it should get you thinking about some issues…

There are some hints at Scott’s next project with a band, see if you get it (It passed me by but my knowledge of bands these days is very shaky).

The Red Man is a bit of a departure from Scott’s normal fare, and he promises a return to the gore next week with Kissing Man – a detective story.

EDIT — Also was going to add, that there is some good and interesting science in this story…

The Ryan Simmons Show 1.005

Friday, July 27 2007

Caught Ryan’s show on the way home.

A brief intro chatter about Joey Harrington and that lead us on to the main event.

I haven’t really been following the NBA crisis, it hasn’t really hit the press over hear, all I knew about it was a NBA official got caught betting on games, I am not too sure if it was games he was involved in ESPN gave that impression, Ryan didn’t. Anyway, that lead to a great rant on the chances of Las Vegas getting a pro sport franchise.

Another great show from Ryan, and for the second time today, a reminder that sports talk underground returns next week…

Larry From The Underground: Episode 15

Friday, July 27 2007

Also caught episode 15 of Larry’s show over lunch – I will catch Ryan’s show on the way home tonight.

The county fair opens with NFL talk focusing on Bears signing Briggs, Mike Vick talk, Martin’s retirement and a piece of news I missed in that Troy Polamalu has signed a huge contract for the Steelers.

This weeks main event is Larry’s summer movie review. He breaks down all the summer movies he has seen so far and previews Augusts movies.

Random thoughts is as entertaining as ever (I am actually listening to that now so can’t go into to many details).

Remember, Sports Talk Underground returns August 1st, with Larry and Ryan reunited, also Larry is after top 5’s to talk about head over to the message boards on SportsTalkUnderground.com to get your requests in.

Another episode in this fantastic series can’t get enough of it

Crescent – Part 11

Friday, July 27 2007

Listened to Crescent part 11 on the way to work.

The episode opened with Marisa in here apartment trying to ignore the disk. Marisa heads to work and the Auditor Nigel confronts her about Geralds unscheduled, illegal salvage mission for Cortez – which Marisa know nothing about. It seems Donovan deleted the record but failed to remove the back up…

Marisa confronts Gerald hoping that it is Kendall that has screwed up but is disappointed to find that it is Gerald who will be for it. At that point the power goes out in the storage room and Marisa appears in the Auditorium. Gerald has the feeling that he last encountered on the lifeboat and he discovers that Marisa was gone, he leaves the room and just spies her disappearing off looking blurry. He follows her and deduces that she went through a maintenance tunnel. He finds Marisa in the auditorium.

Gerald confesses to Marisa that he was running salvage for Cortez and that he has brought the lifeboat onto Crescent. Marisa tells him that he shouldn’t have done that…

What can I say, Phil Rossi tells one mean story, there was no chatter this week but I for one can’t wait until next Thursday

A note about today

Thursday, July 26 2007

I am working from home today which means obviously that I am not driving to work.

Larry’s podcast hasn’t appeared (he took the wrong one into work to upload!). I have Mur Lafferty and Phil Rossi lined up in iTunes ready to go so they will be commented on tomorrow.

JC Hutchins: 7th Son Book 3 Episode 3

Wednesday, July 25 2007

It is Wednesday morning so that means a new chapter of 7th Son Book Three and again JC does not disappoint. Seriously if you are not listening to this trilogy stop what you are doing and head over to jchutchins.net.

Okay on to Episode 3, chapters 6 and 7, we take up the story with Father Thomas arriving at the UN building, he passes through the first wave of security only just the guards ribbing him about the extra pounds he has put on since “his” photo was taken.

Upon arriving at the General Assembly Hall Father Thomas encounters a friend of Jonathan’s (Ellen Gibbons) who wants to know where Jonathan’s been. Thomas gets caught in the deception, lying his way out of the lack of a wedding ring. The story ends with the fingerprint scanner into the Assembly Hall giving a error beep and the head of Security heading over…

For what it is worth I suspect that Ellen will save the day and get Thomas in. I think that the problems will be that he is overweight (blamed on steroids) rather than he (or Alpha) is already in the hall

Todays Podcasts

Tuesday, July 24 2007

So you thought there would be no blog today? Well as is the usual on a Tuesday no novels, but there is a fortnightly Red Sox podcast by Corn, Gordon and Flanagan arrived this morning.

As this is the first show since I started this blog I will mention a bit about this show. These three guys talk for 40 minutes to an hour on the Red Sox and I think is the best Red Sox podcast out there. Corn and Gordon have been Red Sox fans for years, Randy Flanagan is younger and is the butt of the jokes. The show usual format is a discussion on the previous fortnights events choosing two or three topics, then this season they seem to enjoy talking about A-Rod and the yankees :-) Anyhow a new feature is the 7th Innings stretch and the show closes with three quick strikes. Check out the show using th elinks on the right

Anyway this episode is a bit of a departure from the usual with a “all access” show that was unscripted. I enjoyed it, the episode started with Corn and Gordon moaning about Flanagan and a bit of Bonds talk, with an hour worth of Red Sox talk and a discussion on the Yankees. Give it a listen if you are a Red Sox fan…

Jack Palms 2: This is Life 08

Monday, July 23 2007

Listened to this at lunch and can’t get enough of it.

The gunshot at the end of episode 7 is revealed to have hit Mills and Jack takes of running. A blacked out car takes Mills body and Jack flees the scene in a taxi.

Jack then receives a call from Freeman saying he will meet him back at his hotel. Jack is suspicious following last weeks events and Jack enters the hotel through the bar and spies Free with the two Russian suits that attacked Jack in the alley way back in the earlier episodes (3 I think but I wasn’t blogging then so can’t check).

Jack sneaks to the lift to go to his room and get his gun, but Free spied him. The episode closes with Jack and Freeman arguing through the room door, which Freeman breaks down coming face to face with Jack and his gun…
